Born in Quebec, he moved to Paris in 1947. He and his wife, Mimi Parent, then began to create costumes. "The Execution of the Testament of Sade" (1950) inspired at masochistic ceremony that was performed in fron of a samll audience in 1959. He based his "Necrophilic Costumes" (1964) on classical horror films.
