| Biography: |
Alechinsky studied architecture and had his first exhibition in Brussels around 1947. Pierre joined the group Cobra in 1948 and parted company with them in 1951. In 1965 he responded to Arts magazine, Andre Breton listed him as one of ten surrealist painters under fifty, but his painting was neither automatic or oneiric. His work was associated with Expressionistic work, but was difficulty classified as figurative or abstract.
