| Biography: |
Lagarde was originally a primary school teacher in Algeria. He began using raclage in 1951, and since then, he has produced numerous Surrealist pieces, including "Brothel Opening on the Courtyard, We're Visiting the Garden" (1965). He has taken part in every Surrealist group exhibition since 1959.
